The operating system
for researchers.

Personal research systems, time mastery, and a healthier psychology of research — so you can stop drowning in tasks and reach your next career level.

For researchers at every stage·By a researcher, not a product team
The mission

Research is a vocation.
Overwhelm is a tooling problem.

Researchers carry an impossible load — papers, experiments, grants, supervision, reviewing, teaching, admin. The overwhelm is not a character flaw. It's the inevitable cost of doing serious research without a personal system designed for it.

ResearchKernel is built on one belief: every researcher deserves a personal operating system that protects deep work, structures the week, and keeps a healthy mindset toward the craft.

Before
  • Generic productivity hacks that don't fit research
  • A week that owns you instead of the other way around
  • Constant overwhelm, guilt, and impostor syndrome
After
  • A research system built around how you actually think
  • A week you design — deep work, teaching, life, in balance
  • A calmer mindset that makes the research itself better
The three cores

Three cores. One researcher operating system.

01

Research systems

Build a personal research system around highly personalized productivity tactics — capture, notes, writing, references, and review loops tuned to how you actually think.

02

Time management

Adopt time management systems tailored to researchers — weekly and daily routines, prioritization frameworks, and calendar designs that protect deep work and keep your most important research moving forward.

03

Research psychology

Shift your psychological perspective toward research itself — reduce overwhelm, soften impostor feelings, and approach the work with the calm and curiosity it deserves.

Principles

An operating system, not another app.

Personal research systems. Productivity tactics built around how you, the researcher, actually think and work.
Built for research time. Semesters and grant seasons for academia; sprints, roadmaps, and product cycles for industry R&D — native to how researchers actually work, not hacked on top.
Time mastery, not time tracking. Regain control of your week so research time is protected, not a leftover.
Healthier research psychology. Reduce overwhelm and reshape how it feels to do the work, not just what you do.
Your data, your pace. Exportable. Auditable. Yours.
Evidence-led. Drawn from the world's most accomplished researchers — and tested in real academic life.
Founder note

I'm building the tool I needed through my PhD.

I'm Gabriel Rodrigues Palma — a Brazilian biologist who fell in love with statistics, moved to Ireland to do a PhD in mathematics and statistics at the Hamilton Institute, and now works as a research fellow using EEG to study neurological diseases.

Along the way I have been a lecturer in statistics, a software developer, and a perpetual note-taker. I learned the hard way that talent alone doesn't carry you through research — a personal system does.

What actually worked was a system — built around research systems, time mastery, and a healthier psychology of research. ResearchKernel is that system, packaged so the next generation of researchers don’t have to reinvent it alone.
